Configure Duo app on new phone using same number (Android or iOS)
To configure the Duo mobile app on your new phone that is using same number as your old phone, please do the following.
NOTE:
The instructions below are optimized for Android, but work the same on iPhones/iPads.
Effective March 31st 2024, LastPass will no longer support a version of the LastPass Mac App that some users may have. To avoid any service disruption, users must download a new supported version of the LastPass Mac application from App Store if their current desktop app was downloaded directly from Lastpass.com before June 2023. Please click here for instructions to update your LastPass Mac App.
First, if you are on campus, do not use Claremont-Guest wireless. Use primarily Pomona wifi, or Eduroam wifi as a backup.
Then, open a new incognito window (Google Chrome) or new private window (Safari, Firefox or Edge).
Then:

On a computer, go to http://duo.pomona.edu and login with just your username (without the @pomona.edu or @mymail.pomona.edu) and password.
- Click on 'Call Me'. The call should come to your new phone.
Answer the call and follow the verbal instructions to complete the authentication.
- Click 'Device Options'.
- Click 'Reactivate Duo Mobile'.
- Use the 'Call me' or 'Text me' option to verify ownership of your phone number.
Enter the number provided to you by phone or text, and click 'Verify'.
Then, click 'Continue'.
- Follow the on screen instructions to redo the Duo Mobile configuration.
- Continue the configuration till you see the 'I have Duo Mobile' button.
- Click the ' I have Duo Mobile ' button so that a QR code appears on the computer screen.

On your new phone, install the Duo app from the Apple or Google Play Store.
- Open the Duo app on your phone and tap "Set up account".
- Tap 'Use a QR code'. Point your phone's camera at the QR code on the computer screen.
- Once set up, click 'Next'. Account name should be pre-populated as 'Pomona College'. Click 'Save'.
- Tap 'Skip' to complete.
NOTE: You may wish to tap 'Practice now' if you so choose.

On the computer, click 'Continue' to complete. Then, close the browser window.
Duo is now ready for use on the new phone. Log into a Pomona College information services (e.g., http://mail.pomona.edu) to test.
NOTE:
If you see a notice in the Duo app on your phone stating 'Notifications turned off', tap on 'Go to settings' and turn on notifications. This way, Duo push notifications are clearly visible when needed.
