StoryMapJS - Publishing and Sharing a StoryMap
Publishing and Sharing a StoryMap
StoryMapJS is a free tool to help you tell stories on the web that highlight the locations of a series of events.
If you experience issues with StoryMapJS, you may refer to the additional documentation or contact the ITS help desk at 909-621-8061 or servicedesk@pomona.edu. Additional video tutorials are available via Pomona College ITS at https://app.vidgrid.com/content/jmaRnqQFZPqn.
Preparing to Publish
Users can preview their StoryMap before publishing it. To do so, users must select the “preview” tab next to the current “edit” tab. If users like their edits, they can return to the “edit” tab and select “save” to ensure their changes aren’t lost or to return to later.
Publishing your StoryMap
Once users have selected the “save” button, users can select the “publish changes” button at the top.
Sharing your StoryMap
Users can share their StoryMap by selecting the “Share” button in the upper right-hand side.
- Users can share their StoryMap via a link that StoryMapJS generates. Users can email the link to others or use it to incorporate their StoryMap into a preexisting website.
- Under “Social,” users can select one of the offered social media services to share their StoryMap to. From there users would follow the required steps to post their StoryMap to the selected platform.
- Users can also input a description and image before posting their StoryMap to a selected social media platform. To upload an image, users would either use the dropdown menu that appears to select an image they’ve previously uploaded or select choose file and then click upload. Once these settings have been set, users can return to the “Social” options and select the desired platform to share their StoryMap to.
- Finally, users can copy and paste an embed code that StoryMapJS generates. Users might choose to paste the embed code into a preexisting website. Further users can directly change the width and height of their StoryMap before copying and pasting the embed code elsewhere.
