Getting Started with WordPress
-

- Under applications, select “All Applications”
- Select the “My Applications” tab
- Select the middle link to the side of your WordPress site to create and manage changes
Users have the option of inputting their StoryMap into either a post or a page. For each option, simply follow the steps below. Begin with selecting the page or post tab and then clicking on the post or page that requires editing.
StoryMap Sharing
As mentioned in the “Publishing and Sharing a StoryMap” documentation, users can share their StoryMap by selecting the “Share” button in the upper right-hand side. In this documentation, the areas of interest will be the sharing via link and sharing via embed code sections.
- Users can share their StoryMap via a link that StoryMapJS generates. Users can email the link to others or use it to incorporate it into a preexisting website, such as a WordPress site.
- Users can copy and paste an embed code that StoryMapJS generates. Users might choose to paste the embed code into a preexisting website, such as a WordPress site. Further users can directly change the width and height of their StoryMap before copying and pasting the embed code elsewhere.
Inputting your StoryMap into WordPress with ShortCode
- Select the “Pages” tab
- Click on the page you want to input your StoryMap into
- Select the “Add Block” button
- Search for the “Shortcode” block
- Copy the embed code StoryMapJS generates for you and paste it into the “Shortcode” text field that appears. You can directly change the width and height of your StoryMap in the “Share This StoryMap” box before copying and pasting the embed code. However, you can also change the width and height box in the WordPress “shortcode” text field.
Inputting your StoryMap into WordPress with the Embed Block
- Select the “Pages” tab
- Click on the page you want to input your StoryMap into
- Select the “Add Block” button
- Search for the “Embed” block
- Input the link that StoryMapJS generates for you in the “Share This StoryMap” box.
Whether you are inputting your StoryMap using the embed block or the shortcode block, when done you can select the preview button in the top right-hand corner to ensure you are satisfied with the results. When you are ready, return to the page or post you were editing, and select the update button in the top right-hand corner.
