Easiest Way to Subscribe and Unsubscribe Correctly to a Listserv Mailing List
There are various ways to subscribe to and unsubscribe from a Listserv mailing list but this way is easiest way and the most direct way to either subscribe to or unsubscribe from a Listserv mailing list. Subscribing or unsubscribing this way makes sure that you are added to removed from a mailing list with the correct email address from your email account.
Each Listserv mailing list has special email addresses to subscribe to and unsubscribe from that specific mailing list. The format for these email addresses are:
<MailingListName>-subscribe-request@listserv.pomona.edu
<MailingListName>-unsubscribe-request@listserv.pomona.edu
where <MailingListName> it the specific name of the mailing list.
This works for any Listserv mailing list as long as the <MailingListName> is the name of an actual Listserv mailing list.
For example, to subscribe to the Pomona Staff mailing list, you would send a blank email, meaning keep the Subject Line and the Body of the message blank, to:
Staff-Subscribe-Request@listserv.pomona.edu
Send this message from your Pomona email account to Listserv and your request will be sent to the List Owner of the Staff Mailing List.
NOTE:
- If you want to put something in the Subject Line and the Body of the message, that is perfectly fine. If you have to put something there, I would suggest the word "Subscribe" in both places.
- You need to send separate email message to the Email Subscribe and Unsubscribe email address for each mailing list. You should not combine the Email Subscribe and Unsubscribe email addresses on a single email.
