Register Linux Computer (Ubuntu, etc.) with the Campus Network
Computers and other network devices running newer versions of Linux (Ubuntu, etc.) need to be registered with the campus network the same way as all other types of computers (Mac, Windows, etc.).
However, if running an older Linux operating system and/or you can't register your Linux computer, you will need use the directions below.
To have the ethernet card (wired) and/or wireless card to a Linux (Ubuntu or other) computer registered with the Pomona College network, you must verify the following three items with ITS Service Desk staff:
- the computer is indeed running Linux (ITS needs to know the distribution and version).
- the computer's operating system has all available patches and updates.
- the computer is running Clam Antivirus (http://www.clamav.net ).
Once you have completed the 3 items above, please contact the ITS Service Desk at ServiceDesk@pomona.edu or (909) 621-8061.
